Does the above combo work for anyone- I bought two of them, and they don't fire when on the body. Not really a huge concern, but if there's a way I could make them work, I'd like to.

This probably doesn't help you at all, but my 568EX works fine on my 5D classic.

Do they fire when you press the test button?

Have you tested them on a different body?

yeah, they work on my 70D just fine...they work with the triggers i bought, when the triggers are mounted to the 5D as well...the 5D works with my 430EX fine

the flashes shoot out the red flash assist as well, when they are on the 5D, and also report the correct focal length, and aperture that the lens is at

I searched and found other posts of people complaining of the same thing, but they were old posts, and members with a handful of posts, so i figured it was better to start a new thread

so i found a listing on ebay that lists they are not compatible in TT-L mode with the 5D, and 40D...however, on my 40D it still fires at least

i'm thinking that it's just not possible

My 565EX II works on my 5Dc and 40D, no trouble. What happens if you set the flash to the opposite shutter fire? IE if it's on 2nd shutter, switch it to 1st? I seem to recall having an issue with one or the other...

hmm...so there is hope...i tried setting the flash to first, and second curtain shutter...as well as switching the 5D...i couldn't get any combo to work

if worst came to worst, i know that i could put the trigger on the body, and then mount the flash to the top of that...it worked out, but i'm not sure i'll ever need to

Well that's a royal pain. Sorry I couldn't be more help.

It also doesn't make sense. It should at least fire in manual mode if nothing else. Weird.

Heya,

I have a 560 II, 560 III, 565EX and 565EX II and all of them work fine with my 5D. Both in the shoe mount (ETTL working where applicable), and with the RF603 transceivers (manual).

Very best,

hmmm...now i'm totally lost...at first i figured this was just how it is supposed to be...i've messed around a lot with the settings, and can't figure out anything...i do still think i'll be fine without it, as i've got the 430EX, and if i want to go off-camera the triggers still work

Does the 430EX fire on the 5Dc using the same triggers?

That's what I was assuming, but these other posters are getting it to work, so now I'm not sure anymore
