I have a 1Dmkiv and had a 5Dmkiii on trial, the 5D went back and I've still got the 1D.
I shoot sport and wildlife professionally.

I too swapped my 1Dmk4 for a 5Dmk3 . I was never happy with my Mk4 went back to Canon many times in a year of ownership . I have had 1d bodies since 2000 , with the 1Dmk2 being my favourite for seven years .

I shoot sports and I am very happy with the results of my 5DMk3 excellent allrounder .

There are so many people that love the 5D3 and the 1D mark IV, its crazy. The bad news is the guy I was going to trade with backed out for some reason but Im still going to keep looking to move the 1D for the speed. If the AF is the same then sweet, if it around the same sweet! Also I just love the 1D feel in the hands, at least the 1DX but I would think both X and Mark IV are about the same.

I just want to update this and say thank you to all those who put their thoughts in and helped me out. I now have a 1D Mark IV!! Amazing camera for sure. Images are not that far at all from a 5D3. ISO is really good even around 12800 and the AF is also spot on. Loving it so far cant wait to take it out and shoot with it. I will miss that RAW ML video on the 5D though at times...
