This is a one shot image of the sun taken with a 7D, 1.4 EX2 and 31mm extension tube, 1600 ISO at 1/1000 sec. I processed it in LR5 and silver efex pro2. Any suggestions on how I can make it better. I converted to B&W because I couldn't pull any detail out while it was in color. I guess I need to learn to use photoshop :o

I don't have the answers but I can agree that it is <bleep> difficult.
I didn't get a chance to try imaging it the whole time that spot was visible. I did get to see the big flare though.
What scope are you using ? I just have a PST but it sure is tempting to upgrade.

Steve.

I'm using a Lunt 60mm Ha, PT. I tried a 60mm without the pressure tuner and didn't like it at all. I sent it back and got the pressure tuned version. It is a much nicer scope.

Sun seems to have remain silent recently, that is after hectic activities in later summer and early autumn.

The sun's been somewhat boring lately, at least the few times I've been able to observe it. It's been nothing but cloudy for weeks. I'm now trying to use an orion SSAG to capture .avi movies and still photos for stacking. So far I've failed miserably. Registax doesn't seem to like tiff files and it won't align the images in an avi file. I'll figure it out sooner or later.
