There are several printer reviews in UK forums. The suggested list prices for the new printers are PRO9000 - #499 and PRO9500 - #649; At a present exchange rate of about 1.72 makes the Epson 2400 look good.

Does anyone know of the SRP in US$ of the Pro9000 and Pro9500? I've seen 720 and 937, respectively, in Euros. I suspect they will be close to $880 and $1,150, based upon the current currency rates.

"Raw" is not an acronym, abbreviation, nor a proper noun; thus, it should not be in capital letters.

You have to compare the IP5000 to an Epson 4800 since they both have 17 inch width capablilty. The prices will be fairly competitive.

I believe that the Pro9000 and Pro9500 are intended to compete with the Epson 1280(90) and 2400 printers. The 1280 is getting to be a fairly old model so it should be somewhat cheaper, but much slower.

I would also like to see what Hewett Packard are bringing out since they also seem to be getting serious about competing for the consumer photo printer market.

Canon has Annouced two more new Wide Format Lucia Ink Printers.

the 17" wide IPF5100 (external link)

and the 24" wide IPF6100 (external link)

The the 17" IPF5100 (external link)looks to be little more than a bug fix/update for those poor soul beta testers that grabbed the groundbreaking IPF5000  :o :(

Boasting Native 16 bit printing, Native AdobeRGB colorspace and 12 color Lucia ink system they carry the title that Canon's IPF5000 held for a time of the widest color gamut ink jets in there price range.

New black inks While eight of the twelve inks carry over unaltered, the black, gray, matte black and photo gray inks have been reformulated for the iPF5100. The changes are meant to limit the appearance of bronzing in black and white prints in particular, reduce the appearance of graininess in darker areas and improve scratch resistance. The new black inks will not work in the iPF5000, they will neither slide in nor be recognized in the older model.

O-kay on a personal note, I'm a little miffed that less than a year later the Black and grey inks of the super pricey IPF5000 are now obsolete.. and may be doomed to disappear off of shelves fast.

Canon is working to really move into Epson territory,. they do need to work hard and fast to catch up to Epson,. and they have the innovation and ideas to do so, but Canon don't leave your supporters behind and stranded while you do this. Couldn't a simple firmware update mean an IPF5000 working with the new black inks?

Wow - that's nice. Has the SRP ($US) been set?

there saying $2k for the 17" with roll feeder included/built in..
which is good, the IPF5000 went down to $1500 from 2k almost immediately, but then you had to buy the roll feeder seperate for another $250.00

looks like the newer 17" will be about 1,500-1,700.00 in no time with the feeder.

the 24" is priced at $3,500.00 msrp, so i think $3k will get it street.

I picked up the printer (5000), roll unit, stand with free shipping for $1700. Shame printers at this price become obsolete before you go through a set of tanks. Hopefully it will be supported for some time as it is an exceptional printer. Best color and B&W reproduction I have seen to date.

Canon states that it can recalbrate itself and media. Does this mean that Canon provides the ICC profile to match?
