I would like shooters who have used extensively or owned both a 1D3 and a 1D4 to comment on my situation:

I have a 5D3 and a 1D3 (mine has absolutely no focusing issues). I shoot a lot of landscapes, quite a few events, and a smattering of nature, portraits, and sports/action. I don't shoot for money ... but I do avidly compete in the local club competitions.

I believe the only serious weaknesses of the 1D3 that affect me are the poor LCD screen and, to a lesser degree, the low resolution, preventing heavy cropping. I believe these would both be addressed by switching to a 1D4.

The best thing about the 1D3 for me is the responsiveness and ergonomics (which would be maintained by the 1D4).

I also am concerned the 1D3 may be reaching the age where Canon drops it for consideration in the CPS program, and eventually, from the units still being serviced. A 1D4 would give me a substantially increased "life" in this regard.

I now have the chance to pick up a lightly used (25K actuations) 1D4, which will cost me about $1500-$2500 when (or if) I sell the 1D3.

As experienced users of both the 1D3 and 1D4, and based on the parameters listed above, would you comment on the advantages (or lack of) in switching from a 1D3 to a 1D4. Would the upgrade be worth the $1500? $2500?

Thanks for sharing your experience and expert knowledge!
