Wondering if any of you think there could be another release during PMA this month. Could there be a 10 megapixel SLR that will be annnounced later this week or even next week?

There's an awfully big pricing gap between the new 30d and the 5d. The 30d certainly is not the expected response to the d200 either in price or specs. Maybe not this month but most certainly soon there will be a 3d.

Yep, you may well be right. Judging by the 30D response to date people probably would embrace warmnly a "3D" over the enhancement 20D. It would be a great marketing ploy.

yeah I must say, I think the price gap between the 30D and the 5D (around $1700) is a telltale sign that they will be releasing something else and hopefully soon. Aside from the full frame difference and a bit of a buffer difference, they are pretty much the same camera.

Considering the 5D is supposedly not selling as well as Canon had hoped, would they really make it so you can buy two 30D's for LESS than the price of one 5D? There has got to be a camera coming in the $2000 dollar range to keep the lineup flowing smoothly...maybe a full frame with 10 megapixels?

damn....that'd be downright dreamy.....

I'd love to see a 1.3 crop, 10mp, 6fps, with 21-point AF. Bring it on!

Interesting to note that Canon have aligned the 30D with their corresponding EOS 30 film camera. Perhaps they're re-designing their product range and could be looking at a 3D. The next 350D could be the 3000D.

Interesting to note also that the EOS 5 was lower spec than the EOS 3 film cameras. Perhaps we might see a 50D instead.

This seems to come up at every model intro. In one word NO. Later this year at Photokina, maybe, but later this week at this months show. NO.

I can't stop strokin' the rumour mill! :P

A poster on DPReview that DID accurately predict the 30D, 85/1.2 II, and 17-55 lens also said that some kind of new "low-priced 5D" would be out before the World Cup.

Grain of salt, as usual....

I'm not too concerned.

Interesting. How can you tell, if I may ask ? I see a lot of 5D around here and almost none of the majors stores has more than 2 or 3 pieces at a time, due to the demand.

I agree, and I think that a lot of the perception that the 5D isn't selling as well as Canon would like stems from a few anecdotal claims that volley about the internet (DPR, for example) that state that this store or that store has 5D's collecting dust on the shelf. I'm certain that the 5D isn't a huge seller, since its price is beyond the level of sanity for most people (myself excluded), but I don't think Canon's expectations of sales are extremely high. They probably expect to sell 100 times the number of 30D's as 5D's.

Probably the same ratio applies to the 5D vs 1Ds... I am almost sure that Canon does not expect enormous numbers from those bodies. From a financial point of view, 350D and 20D are the true battlehorses, I think, not to mention the P&S. That's where the money is, at least in the photo division.

To me, i think 5d for what it is - its priced correctly. i mean i spent this money without hesitation...

and i think that there would be something like (3D) so i can sell my 5D on ebay, and get a 3D
