Sorry if this is in the wrong place - didn't seem like it quite fit in the RAW/Post-Processing forum...

Using LR5, is there a simple way to determine what the lens MA settings were for a given image? I can't find it anywhere in the Metadata section, and I'm not sure where else it would be. Seems like something that would get recorded, but maybe not?

Thanks for any help.

By MA do hou mean micro adjust? I Dont think thats recorded in the meta data. Its not a variable that changes from shot to shot but rather a calibration tool.

I don't believe this is in the metadata. You can see the setting for the specific lens in your AFMA menu on the camera.

You can see it in DPP and in Zoom Browser. I have just been sorting mine out. -3 for the 2x on my 400DO and +4 with the 1.4x. Essential for such a narrow DOF lens/extender combo. I would never buy a camera without MFA.

I know where to find/change it in the menu. My question is how to see it when viewing the photos. Was hoping to see it in the metadata so I could shoot, make changes, shoot, make changes, etc. without taking notes regarding which photos were at which MA settings.

I have a lens that I MA using a calibrated chart & tripod setup, then in the field it behaves erratically (back focuses/front focuses depending on the distance to the subject). It's been to Canon repair twice, but it seems like it needs to go again...

I don't normally use DPP, but I may need to fire it up for this. Was out shooting last evening and made changes in the field, but wasn't able to really tell much by chimping, and now I don't know which photos had which settings.

Thanks for the input.

I do know that on the 70D, when you preview/review a picture with the info display on (ie with histo and shooting info displayed) there is a small entry just below the pic preview that shows the MFA information for the lens.
I will try to get a picture later when I am home.

My 6D does the same thing. It is also visible in DPP, but I forget if that was version 3 or 4. I still have both loaded.

Just verified for you with exiftool that my 1D Mk III does indeed write it into the .CR2 file, and there's also a flag saying it picked up the "Adjust by Lens" option rather than the global one. The value I see is the correct that I set one for this body and lens.

Camera Raw indeed did not copy it into the .XMP sidecar.

That seems like a horribly inaccurate way to MA a lens and just adds more confusion as to what is going on. There are so many variables with that setup that I would never trust it.

I just click the INFO button in the toolbar and this pops up in DPP 3.14. Curiously, I could not find it in DPP 4. MFA is 8th item from the bottom.

EDIT: I found it in DPP 4. You have to have the EDIT IMAGE screen up. Then click CTRL+I, or in menus: View->Info.

JJ, select an image and DPP, on the top Toolbar select File, select info, on the top of the pop up select shooting information, it's about halfway down the page just above picture style.

Interesting, I had to go back to some old photos as i manually focus 99% of the time these days and the information does not pop up when manually focusing. I finally found an older pic where AF was used and indeed, it's there.

I never use MFA. It always shows up anyway, with a value of "0".

I think MFA is applied whenever AF is used. In your case it's value is zero. I was manually focusing so AF is not being used thus MFA is not applies and it does not show up in the info screen.
