I figured it had been long enough for the major issues to be worked out, but I guessed wrong. Since "updating" to Yosemite 10.10, Lr 5.6 keeps freezing, and the laptop restarts itself. I have reinstalled Lr, and it seemed to make the issues go away but they are back tonight. Freezes on import, freezes in the develop module.

Any idea's? This is driving me nuts.

15" rMBP, 8 gigs RAM, i7 something or another. Files are on an external Lacie drive. Worked fine on Mavericks.

Go back to Mavericks. I have the same machine as you and have no intention of changing to Yosemite until the bring out version 10.10.1, or even 2.

so, turns out my external HDD either was getting ready to go out, or the latest set of files were corrupted. I have a redundant back up thank god, but two days worth of files would lock up the system when I would try to copy them to a new location. Im not sure if corrupted files can do this, as I would just assume they would load all garbled into lightroom. Regardless of if its the files or the HDD, the SD card is getting retired and the HDD is getting replaced.

Odd that his happened the night I updated the OS.

I agree and I planned to wait as well, to make sure all the bugs are worked out and will play nicely with my programs.

Best, Bruce

well, since I figured out it was my HDD taking a sh*t on me and not Yosemite, I have replaced my working HDD and Lightroom, NiK Software and PS CC work just as they did with Mavericks. I feel you on waiting though.
