Pocket wizard plus III

Hi all,

I've been offered a set of pocket wizard plus III triggers but the chap says they're for nikon and i only have canon and yongnuo flashes / cameras, would these still work? I do 't often use e-ttl or even at all when i'm off camera as i do a lot of night shooting and it gets very confused so i do manual power. If they would work would i be able to control the power / grouping of flashes? Thanks in advance.

The PW pluss III are brand agnostic so they will work with you camera and manual flashes. When you say offered, gift or sale? While they are very capable manual triggers they are often not the best choice for speedlites because of cost and functionality.

Sale, £200 for 3 of them. New in boxes. Bought for a glamour shoot but he never used them. :-/ was thinking of just getting some yn602 or yn622c (i think) as they're alot cheaper but will i want the pw in the future? Lol

What flashes do you use? What if you want pw in the future at this point why truly do you want pw.. Are the really better and more reliable than newer Cheeper options?

They dont have hotshoes so you are going to use cords to connect your flashes. If your flahes dont have a sync cord port then you would also need an adapter with cords. The PW's are a great product but they are better designed for studio strobes. If you have a need for amazing range the PW's are perfect but for your use I dont see much benefit.

The canon flash doesnt have the sync port, not sure sbout the ýn.

Ah ok, so no real point then! Lol. Better off with something like the yn 602?

If it were me, yes. YN have recently expanded their trigger offerings so I suggest you start there with an eye toward future use. ETTL capable triggers are getting cheaper, YN has introduces new radio options for their manual flashes as well. The 602 or 603s are solid performers but think about your future uses and options before you buy.

So the 622 a better option?

Better is not clear cut terminology here. The 622s are full ETTL capable triggers, you get access to HSS and remote power control for your 430exII. But if you are only doing manual its more expensive for not much greater functionality.

Ok, that is vague terminology, i think i need to work out where and how i'm going to use them first then work out what would suit
