Didn't know if this thread had already been created, but
here is a link for what promises to be a fantastic
deal on high quality screw on UV and ND filters if you get
in on the ground floor of this deal.

Check this out:

https://www.kickstarter.com …raction-filters?ref=email (external link)

Here's some info from the Canon Rumors forum site:

http://www.canonrumors.com/forum/index.php?topic=23630.0 (external link)

I personally went with the $65 package which lets you mix and match
filter sizes of x2ND and x2UV filter, (plus $8 shipping to the US)

This looked like a great deal considering the quality of the filters
and it's great to possibly have some more decent competition.

Thought some of you might like backing a new company and get a
deal at the same time. No, I'm not affiliated with the company or
anyone that is involved in this.

Just thought I'd share the opportunity.

Hmm... Interesting. Should be at least the same quality as B+W since they use the same glass, and currently the prices are around the same for their X3 as the B+W slim UV's. Pledged for 1 X3 UV just to see. If they make it to the CPL stretch, may pledge for one of those too, again just to see if it is any good.

I've never done kick starter. If you pledge for a filter and they don't reach their target donation amount will they still make the filters or are they not contractually obligated through kick starter?

If a KickStarter doesn't meet its target, you don't pay and they don't produce.

Unfortunately, the only things I'm in the market for at the moment are CPLs, which are only a stretch goal for these guys. If they had CPLs right off the bat I'd back 'em all the way.

Hmmmm. Seems like the filter market is a cluttered market to enter. Good intentions and quality promises aside, there are so many brands of filters currently in the market place - some with multiple sales channels already in place - and I would expect them to fight back against any new brand attempting to encroach on their territory.
Just sayin'

I will say that "fighting back" is much easier with a noted photog in your corner, though. Who knows, they may make enough to have covered the whole endeavor, still.

I've been burned by far too many kickstarters.

I have yet to be burned by a photography equipment kickstarter, to be honest.

And it looks like this team knows what they're doing! The kickstarter isn't over and they're already on their way to China to finalize things with the manufacturing centers?! Wow!

Very tempted by this for the X3 UV filters. Been wanting one for my 135L and one for my 16-35 IS.

EDIT - Just pledged for 2 X3 filters

I've supported a lot of projects on KS including many photography (Luxi light meter was the last one & still waiting for stuff from Peak) but I have mixed feelings about this one. I use square GND filters, B+W CPL filters and Singh-Ray Variable ND and have no need for UV or ND filters but I might contribute to get a copy of Art Wolfe's new book.

I am very curious how this family owned company was able to achieve R&D of frame & coating, prototyping and developing their own repellent technology in 2 months. I will follow their progress and see if they ever get to developing their own slim CPL.

I want to guest blog on your Landscape / Travel photography blog, PM for details

Looks like they have reached the required funding target. Looking forward to seeing the quality of the filters
