I'm not a wedding photographer, but saw this today and wondered if anyone is using it as an added service for wedding clients?

When you say "added service" you mean providing a projector/screen? Since it would be guests sharing their photos via instagram.

Or LCD TV... but yes.

I don't find it all that much different that the people who come setup a bounce house for kids to jump in at your home - people pay the rental charges for these at birthday parties all the time. I also know of people who run a business setting up outdoor projector/screens for movies or football games.

As a wedding photographer and photography business I'm personally interested in taking and selling photographs. Not renting electronic equipment out.

No thanks. That would be bad enough at a wedding but when they said concert I cringed. I paid for a ticket to see the band perform, not to see a slideshow of crappy Instagram photos on a screen.

Just think... a guest takes a shot of John throwing up in the toilet and hashtags it... Meanwhile Jill (John's girlfriend) is kissing James (the bestman) and is snapped in the background of someone taking a selfie who hashtags that baby too... all as part of a service my business has provided for the bride and groom.

I've seen slideshows played during weddings, as well as receptions, of various photos of the bride & groom throughout their life and relationship. I found this as an extension of that, and a way for the guest to share the wedding experience through their point of view to the bride, groom, and family.

I see the opportunity for this along side the offering for a photo booth.

I also understand why some would not want to get involved.

Sounds like an amazing party! :D

With slideshows during weddings the couple or their friends have had control over what images have been displayed. Likewise with a photo booth those having their photo taken have control know where and how it is being used.

If you were a wedding photographer you'd know that there are plenty of people out there who don't like having their photos taken at weddings (even by the hired help). Nevermind being taken by someone who has drunk more than a feeding Blue Whale.

Supplying a "service" which removes a person's personal liberty and privacy at a wedding... not a good idea at all.

None of that is live. When you mix a fun setting, alcohol and people there is far too much of a chance for abusing the "system". I had a friend who did the hashtag thing for their wedding. It wasn't live but it was a way to see photos from the guests perspective. They said there was more than one "dick pic", several boob shots and a few guys had pulled their pants down and bent over while someone took their photo. Now imagine if that were live.

I've second shot a couple of weddings and it's just not my forte. I absolutely get what you are saying.

I also understand that all of the pictures are going to be taken regardless if this is setup or not. The guests are going to take the pictures and share them to their own Facebook and Instgram accounts anyway. There is something like 400M pictures uploaded to Facebook, and 55M to Instragram DAILY. The only difference is that this allows them to be automatically culled to a single location and shared with the participating group almost instantly.

I'd go as far as saying the idea is the single worst idea of a service to offer as a wedding photographer that I've heard in all my years working as one.

I've seen photobooths [cameras] connected to Lr, using the Slideshow module, connected to a projector. That's pretty live.

Fair enough. Every wedding photo booth I've seen while shooting weddings has been the type where you print off photos instantly.
