He won't post a valid answer on here because there are no adjustments to be made that will greatly reduce noise...
I find the lack of response to peoples requests as rude and ignorant...

This thread alone has 5,549+ posts and is 370+ pages. Easy to miss out on things. Just a thought.

Don my Moma always told me " if you have nothing good to say ...say nothing" and you have made it clear of what you think of what I have to say...So I have nothing for you. Read your manual... There is nothing that I could say or do for you that you would not punch holes in. If you were a reasonable conversationalist like most on these pages we could talk ...but you have made your bed !! And as for the noise in my image's well you can see for yourself on the pages of PTON. End of story

As an alternative to bickering, you could clarify your remarks about reducing noise.

Case 2 with TS set to -2 is a very good start for single or expanded. Here is another take. Many people who bird lower the TS to keep focus on the subject. The single point or expansion cluster can go off the bird for a second or two and not lose focus. As long as you get back on right away.

http://www.timboyerphotography.com …s-and-flight-photography/ (external link)

When I shoot zone AF I'm either in cases 5 or 6 and take advantage of increased AF Switching and Accel/Decel settings. One could do all this in case 1 but with 6 cases it is easier in the field. Case 1 is the base and the others are tweaks.

In April I put it to the test. I did some birding in cases 1, 2 5 and 6 and used single, expanded and zone in all the mentioned cases and it was a breeze. I was shooting larger - non erratic birds. If someone is going to try and shoot swallows the first day out it probably won't go very well so I never recommend that to new users. Veterans have to work harder at that. One step at at time until you gain confidence.

Thanks for posting the link DP!

I am not trying to punch holes in anything so don't understand why you are being so hostile...I was merely asking for an answer to a question which you seem reluctant to give, not just to me but to anyone...
I will happily leave you alone to get on with 'your' thread if you feel like that but I feel you are taking this aggressive stance in order to detract from the fact that you are unable to provide anything to post regarding your noise reduction settings....
Good luck

You can't call someone "rude and ignorant", then ask them why they are being hostile.

I have admired Jeff's photos both from the first camera and the latest but have always wondered about any tweaks both camera side and post production that he might share ... I am up for a PM if Jeff is willing .... Please :-)

Or set auto-ISO and then you can set EC, so that the camera can adjust the ISO for you. I use this often, love the feature.

I was using this all day with the eagles today and I love it.

I have so many pictures taken today and I love the this 7D2, AF is blazing fast. Awesome camera

Interesting. I always use IS. Is the your lens V2 or V1. If V1 how old as I'm not familiar with that lens . My 300L F4 IS is first generation and I have to shut it of when it the tripod as you can see it moving in the viewfinder. However when use with monopod for still I have always left it on.

Newer generation IS is supposed to detect no movement thus it shuts off when when on a monopod. my The 100 to 400 II is 3rd generation but always shut the IS off when on a monoped anyway.

Dan may be shooting with a 600mm telescope.

Why is Dan getting a blurred image with his test with IS on. Is this a normal IS characteristic?

It may have something to do with in body IS vs in lens IS.
