Unless I'm shooting low, low light where the center point is needed, I leave mine in Servo.

I have mine set for center point by default and I have disabled the 65 point wide area array. After playing in some different circumstances, I may disable all of the wide area arrays. I don't care for letting the camera decide what to focus on.

I've only used case 1 but I'm going to try case 2. Many seem to be having good results from it. Since I use the back focus button instead of the shutter half press, one shot is not too restrictive and I rather like the focus confirmation but I think I'm leaning toward using AI Servo all, or most, of the time. With my 50D I used AI Focus a good deal but I don't like it on the 7D2 and won't be using it.

Case 2 for everything. I switched to 1st priority Focus partway thru the evening and I think that helped.

Dog gone evil AI Servo on static subjects continues to be as impossible as everyone says - not (see attached AI Servo shot)

Looks like the 7DII is working fine for you now. :-) I kept my 7D in AI Servo almost all the time, and so far it's working just as well for both moving and static subjects on the 7DII.

Some Canon stuff and a little bit of Yongnuo.

Those results look awfully familiar. Wonder if he got my old camera?

This is not the same thing I don't think. This is different to the AF problems people have been having. At least it is focusing on the target. This fellow came up with a popular MFA method about 4 yeas ago.

I trust this person. I'm finding you have to work a little harder in PP. Not much, but there is a noticeable difference. Get's a tad noisy on very overcast grey days even if compensating EC. I can't even compare to my 7D because I never shot on those types of days. Since I won't be in the future I'm not too worried about it. Indoor 12,800 ISO shots proved to be outstanding.

Backs up what this person says at the end and who told me that very thing during a phone conversation. Obviously people have been doing a good job PP. Now that it is focusing correctly I was able to work with it on some pretty drab shots.

Nope. What he was showing in his blog are exactly what mine looked like under much better lighting and after I had MA'd the lens in that there is nothing in clear focus. Either his lens wasn't MA'd and underperforming or Hendric's camera focusing is off. My second copy is showing much better results, but I have yet to push it. That comes Saturday.

I see. I'm looking forward to seeing your shots.

Nice. I have read many posts where people say they leave their cam on AI Servo all the time.

In several cases, people who were having trouble with their 7D2 were told that they should not shoot AI Servo on static subjects. Since I've used AI Servo almost exclusively with several Canon bodies for several years, I wasn't buying into that excuse for poor 7D2 performance.

Not to thread jack,

Anyone having issue with sequential shots being in focus in AI servo? For those that sent the 7d2 in - what was done?

With my first two 7D2's, yes. But not with my third 7D2 (thankfully). I've gotten many bursts with it where every single shot was sharp.

Love that fox photo!

Yeah, this (http://arihazeghiphotography.com …on-the-7d2-100-400-l-ii/) (external link), is pretty much exactly what I've been seeing on my 1st and 2nd copies.

I am going to send mine in, on Jan 5th I think, and tell them it's randomly mis-focusing/giving soft results, and others are reporting the same issues.

However, I'm still getting sharper results with my Tamron 150-600, than I have been with the D750 and Tamron 150-600.

Great shot of the fox. Are you using AI Servo? Was there much movement tracking with the shot?
