Thanks here's one 1/1250, iso800, f8 shot at 300mm. I do believe it was centre point right on the kisser but I do move my focus point around to suit the frame, could not live with out the joy stick, AI Servo always, back button focus,.. do foxes move mmmmmm yes they do lol you can see snow moving around the feet

Jeff - Another great one! Thanks for posting some setting info and continuing to post those awesome nature shots!
I'm going to try case 5. I typically have used 4 & 1 in the past with great results on a 5d3. Now, I'm a bit in consistent especially on action shots sequences and soccer players running directly or diagonally toward me. Many are just a smidge off but next one is crisp as can be...

Thanks Steve, I think I get just about the same keeper rate as my 7D but much more detail at longer ranges. its hard to know what to put up with so many looking for answer's
Im no expert,...just a wildlife shooter who seems to learn fast. I sure don't get every shot in focus and never have with any camera so I guess I never expected it from the markII

Shot this just now at the house ,..........right through the glass doors lol

Anyone else seeing LiveView/Dual Pixel AF not accurately/consistently focusing as well?

I can re-focus over and over, and it will be soft, then sharp, then soft/soft/soft/sharp.
But I've been comparing to the Nikon D750, that one seems to actually focus faster/better in Live View... Sharp everytime I think. Same lens.

I returned my 7DII and never looked back. Replaced it with the far superior 5DIII. I think there are some real inconsistent focusing issues with this camera that Canon needs to sort out.

I completely agree about the focus issues; for that part alone (focusing), 5DM3 has far better focus consistency than the 7DM2. I am returning my second 7DM2 because of the focusing issues. I still think that, specifications wise, the 7DM2 is a better camera (leaving aside low ISO performance where 5DM3 is still the king). I wish it did not have the focusing issues being discussed on this thread and elsewhere.

Pondrader - if your 7DM2 is focusing correctly, consistently and you have a high keeper rate (>80%) , I would keep it.

Depends on what you are shooting. For some macro stuff, or BIF, 8%, never mind 80%, would be wonderful.

I can tell you I had the same feeling's about the 7D when I got it!! and I'm sure there are some that remember me venting about just how bad it was,..... It was all ME I kept at it and found a wonderful camera in that 7D. And I have posted hundred's of images from that 7D and my Flickr is right full of 7D and now the 7D mark II. This it a brand new camera that must be learned not setup like the 1Dx or the 7D or the 5DIII because its not any of those. learn the camera....make super images....

I don't think I could have done any better with the 7D on this image, but I am shooting the 7D markII as a 7D markII not any other camera.
