I can tell you I had the same feeling's about the 7D when I got it!! and I'm sure there are some that remember me venting about just how bad it was,..... It was all ME I kept at it and found a wonderful camera in that 7D. And I have posted hundred's of images from that 7D and my Flickr is right full of 7D and now the 7D mark II. This it a brand new camera that must be learned not setup like the 1Dx or the 7D or the 5DIII because its not any of those. learn the camera....make super images....

I don't think I could have done any better with the 7D on this image, but I am shooting the 7D markII as a 7D markII not any other camera.

I'm now on my third 7D2, which seems like it might be a keeper. I'm shooting it exactly the same way I shoot my 5D3. It's not rocket science when the camera works properly. Anyone who gets good results with a 5D3 should have no trouble using a 7d2.

Not rocket science but they are very different camera's and you do shoot them very different,.. and yes I have been following. no one here is knocking the 5DIII but you seem to be backing up want I have been discusing with some good people here. and that is the markII can shoot just as well. I realize you've had your trouble's.

On an average day at the racetrack I shoot 2000-4000 images, and probably 80% of the high shutter speed images are keepers. Low shutter speed panning shots are a totally different story. Have you ever tried much of that?

I'm shooting my third 7D2 exactly the same way I shoot my 5D3. I don't find them to be very different. Have you used a 5D3?

I really don't care about the 5DIII as it holds nothing for me at this moment

The point is that is just not really much different from the 7D2 from a user perspective. With the exception of a few things like iTR, and the ability to customize back button focus more with the 7D2, the AF menus are shockingly similar.

You can't really say they are much different if you haven't used both of them.

no I said I have but the hole point to the 7DmarkII is the speed and better iso performance than the 7D for us poor folk, I have images of fox and owl's were I want the shot in-between the shots even on the 7D. don't get me wrong I had my what the hell moments with the markII but right now it seems to be working for me. Im planning to take a day or two over the holidays and see what comes out of it.

I don't buy into the sensor is a sensor is a sensor, that would be like saying all truck's are the same.

Back in 86 I bought a Dodge 4X4 and put 6 transmissions and 2 motor's in it before it was three years old so I can understand wear your coming from. so if your 7DmarkII shoots like a magic camera I'm all ear's, show me the way

Glad to know the third one might be a keeper. There are times when I wonder if I should try out my third copy but with the soft focus issues with my 70D and the two 7DM2s I've tried, I no longer have the patience. Time will tell.

I also agree that anyone who gets good results with a 5D3 should get similar results with the 7DM2; unfortunately I did not.

So your saying you had a 70D 2X 7DmarkII that did not focus Mmmm,..... what are the chances of that I wonder,... It hurts a little more when you talking 10"s of thousands

Yeah. My new Canon 135 F/2 L got sent in twice in 6 months, replacing everything except the glass and shell.
Aperture assembly failed and they also replaced the contact plate, then the USM failed and got replaced....

But my 70-200 F/4 L IS has had no issues and is super sharp wide open. Just luck of the draw sometimes I guess..

Glenn Bartley updated his site and said the 7D II has been working great for him. No focus issues mentioned.

I had two that did not focus reliably. And I personally know someone who is on their second one that is not focusing reliably. It happens. If your first one was a good one, you should consider yourself lucky, because it's a HUGE hassle and waste of time, testing and returning multiple times to get a properly functioning product.

I positively would not waste my time taking 10's of thousands of shots until I was sure my equipment was working properly.
