Currently have a tamron 70200 and 2 full frame bodies. 200mm just not long enough to shoot soccer games. I am looking looking at several options:

1) pickup a cheap kenko 1.4 extender for <$200
2) spend around 1k for a 100-400 f4.5-5.6 mark 1
3) spend around 1k for a tamron f5-6.3 150-600

My needs are:

1) focusing accuracy
2) focusing speed
3) sharpness
4) price

Which option would you go for and if there is a 4th or better option?

Consider a Tamron 70-300mm vibration control lens (external link). Examples:

Good performance and good price, but the cost is not enough for some who would rather have you spend two or three times as much.

Which 70-200 do you have? You should consider a used 1.4x II for $250.

For very infrequent work a teleconverter can work, but on midrange zooms they arent particularly satisfying. If you are going to use this very often the longer lens might be the better choice.

There might be a lot of 100-400Ls hitting the market as soon as the new version starts shipping.

I'm biased.. I love my 100-400. (I've had it for 12 years).

But.. I've read some good things about the Tamzooka, so if I were starting over and choosing a long zoom, I might consider it.
