I havent posted anything in a long while but assure you I have been out shooting just havent found the time in a while to post. Found this little fellow and an outing a little while back and wanted to share. It was with a large group of black turnstones and the consensus around here was either a ruddy or leucistic black. Either way thought you guys would enjoy and if you think ya know what exactly it is let me know.

Very nice! It looks to me like a Rudy, most likely leucistic... and maybe juvenile?

My wife is the bird expert of the family and she says its more likely a Black Turnstone with two possibilities. First it may be leucistic. More likely though, it might be in transition to its winter color which is slate grey. Juvenile Blacks are also slate grey, but it is a late for a juvi.

Black Turnstones don't get that two-tone color in their beak, though; theirs are solid black. That's what makes me think this one's an odd Ruddy rather than a Black.
