Currently, I'm shooting with a Rebel T3 (1100D) with the 18-55mm kit lens, 75-300mm f/4-5.6, and 50mm f/1.8. I mainly shoot landscapes, some portraits and occassionally I like to shoot drag racing.

I'm sure at some point in the future, I will get tired of the Rebel and want to upgrade to a more advanced body. What I'm trying to figure out is what the next logical progression would be. I don't mind not being able to use the 18-55mm since it's the only EF-S lens I have. Based on what I've read, it appears as though I would upgrade to the 70D, 7DII or 6D. I like the 6D for full-frame and GPS. I like the 7DII for fps and GPS.

I appreciate any guidance/suggestions anyone offers.

Any of those options are a pretty solid next step, but looking at your lens list, there are a lot of lenses that might give you more bang for the $$. A 17-55IS, 100-400IS, 24-105IS and so many more would improve your image quality right off. Upgrading the body without new lenses would get you better features but do little to improve the final image.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.
I used to hate math but then I realised decimals have a point.

Wait till there is something you want to do that the Rebel won't do, or does not do well, and then go in the direction that takes you.

For drag racing, you already have the equipment you need.

Drag racing images from a Canon Digital Rebel T2i, a body no more sophisticated than the T3.

For drag racing, timing and location will be more important than equipment - as demonstrated with the above images of Stock racers launching and performing big wheelstands. Various 70-300mm stabilized lenses used above.

The next logical step is to gather experience, which will be more valuable than new toys.

Keep your money. Time on task is more valuable than cash.

how much are you looking to spend? for landscapes and REALLY up close shots you can add an UWA (ultra wide angle) lens. I have the 10-22 and it's awesome, but the new STM version is cheaper with optics that are just as good (some say better...I won't because I don't have it!)

for the racing you NEED to add a better zoom. I had the one that you do, and it is dreck. even getting the "nifty 250" which is 55-250 would be a tremendous upgrade (that's what I did myself). they are sold used here on POTN in the $100 neighborhood. worth every penny.

if you wanted to add a big boy L lens, then check out the 70-200 f/4 (either with or without IS. the cost difference is $400-500 though).

so the UWA and upgraded zoom would add new life to your T3 for a minimal investment. just my $0.02

^ good advice. I'd not worry about upgrading the body till you need to. Glass will give you a IQ boost.

I'd agree about not upgrading the body. Glass is where it's at for what you want to do.
