Hoping some more talented photographers than I can jump in on this thread soon, but since it seems I've received mine early, may as well get things going!

Exposure and color adjusted in Lightroom, but I didn't add any addition sharpness, noise reduction, or profile-based correction (I don't think Lightroom has a profile for this lens yet, actually).

Not a super interesting subject nor terribly good light, but hopefully shows off this lens's sharpness, bokeh, and vignetting characteristics.

1/100, F/2.8, ISO2000

Very cool. Thanks for posting this. I pre-ordered one from Amazon a couple of weeks ago and they still don't have any in stock. I'm looking forward to trying this out on my SL1.

Got mine today. Note these are not shots WITH the lens, but rather shots OF the lens, mounted on my SL1. I was hoping for a lens like this for the SL1 ever since I got the camera.

Nice and sharp. Looks like you caught some bird of prey just to the left of center in the 3rd pic.

Good catch! Yes, that was the closest I could get without scaring it off. Any idea what kind of bird it is?

Red tailed hawk if I had to guess.

Thanks for the photos btw, I was trying to figure out if I pick one of these up or not, but I think I will now for sure. Or at least I'll make sure one ends up under the xmas tree for me!

Looks like it comes with the new lens cap. Nice! I had to order one of those separate for my shorty forty.

Great pictures! I have been eagerly waiting to get my hands on this baby. Hope it becomes available in the Philippines soon. This is one lens that's sure to live on my SL1

I have a really odd question. i use my 17-50mm on the wide side fairly often when doing fashion and model work. Would this lens give me improved IQ at the 24mm point?
Well, Im quite sure it will, but is it worth investing in to get a slight bump in IQ and DOF?

It won't give you any change in DOF; it's still 24mm f/2.8. I do think it's got a very nice bokeh quality, even stopped down to f/8, specular highlights are very nice and round. I think the best reason to get this lens is its light weight and small size; I feel like my 7D is practically a point and shoot! This is my first STM lens, and focus seems to be quick, accurate, and quiet enough, if not quite silent. The close focus distance is also really nice.

A few samples from around the house today , finally got mine after canon took their sweet time getting this out the door.

Thanks to this thread, I just learned about this lens.

Very nicely done lens. Something I was trying to get for my 500D.
I have Zuiko 28 3.5 MF. but this one is much better and seems to be even more compact.

To me size of 500D is already small enough, but even kit lens was kind of big.

38 FOV is great for documenting what is near you.
