I hear the 2015 show is in question due to a big inspection during that time.

Yeah, they made the announcement on Sunday that the show would not take place at Nellis in 2015 but will return for 2016 if our gov. doesn't shut it down for some reason.
I live here in Vegas. A buddy and I are planning on going out and climbing Sunrise Mt. which is the high peak directly opposite the airfield. Gonna bring the 600mm and shoot the show from up there in 2016 for a different perspective.

I made that climb. Once was enough. Of course you're probably younger than me. :)

I'll be 51 in 2016 but I hike all the time and I'm in pretty good shape.

Don't give up yet; it's not definite.

If I do what I am thinking about I'll be packing the 600mm f4 with a 1.4x extender on it. I'll need the extra reach considering the distance I'll be shooting.

^ Not to put a damper on your plans, but I think you're still going to be too far away.

Edit: I think we're in danger of hijacking Dwayne's thread.

Very sorry. For some reason I thought I was having this conversation on MY post. But since he said "no worries"....

Yeah, I know I'm not gonna get any closeups. We are interested in doing it more for the hike and the different perspective. There's so many shots here that look alike, it might be kinda cool to have shots with the crowds in the background since we will be looking down on the low passes. Who know, it may turn out to be a total waste of time. One thing's for sure though, the hike out will be shorter than that line waiting for the buses!!!!
