Just a small portion the Short-eared Owl photographs I've taken this past Winter here in Northern New Jersey:

1 - taking off to defend its territory

These are fantastic. I didn't know they expelled their pellets while flying. Very cool.

I didn't know either until I saw this in the viewfinder :)
Funny thing is that couple hours before I was wondering, what these holes melted in the snow were? :)
