Really would like a honest critique of this photo, as I have just got interested in night time photography.

Photo was taken with a standard canon kit lens on a 70D.

There's not much wrong with it, but it's been done a million times. If you're gonna do London you either need to pick something less obvious, or not shoot it from outside that bar on the southbank

I'm not that keen on the post in the middle of the screen. I'd be tempted to try to remove it.

All the stuff I've owned at one time or another

Thanks for the reply just learning about CS6 and will have a go and try to remove the post.

Sorry about the bridge photo didn't have much time I know it has been done to death.

Here is another pic but from the side of the Hotel, I feel that this one is a little busy and not got the full dolphin statue in....but still interested in critique.

I can see why someone would say "it's been done to death", but keep in mind -- the same thing can be said for sunsets, flowers, and all the other subjects most of us actually shoot :( I like your first image better. The one thing I don't like is the post/pole interrupting the lights' reflection on the water in front of the left tower. Can I ask what your exposure was. Did you do a great deal of PP?

Had a quick go at removing the black post in the first photo...

I set the Camera on AV and shot at F16, ISO 100 and I made several adjustments in Lightroom

The reason for taking photos of the bridge was to create a HDR image and I took 7 photos with a bracket of (-1 -2 -3 0 +1 +2 +3) but when I loaded them in the software the pictures did not come out right?

What HDR software did you try? What went wrong?

May have been done a million times, but I've never seen it, looks good to me. I don't think the one with the dolphin quite works though, too busy as you suggested. And even though small, the person does tend to draw the eye, so you need to try to get a shot with no one in the foreground.

I used Photomatix but to be honest is more likely my lack of knowledge then the programme I will need to play with it more and get use to the software
