As for the track, looks like Buttonwillow to me (look up "nowhere" in the dictionary, there's a map). Northwest of Bakersfield, CA.

Not bad at all for a first timer....i would keep bringing down the shutter speed as the day goes by. get used to shooting with a slower shutter for more motion blur
