HI All,

I have a question about using off camera flashes with mirrorless cameras. Since they show you a live view of the picture it seems like it would be difficult to use when you are compensating for external flash. Let's say you are trying to shoot a low key image - you would manually adjust for the flash compensation and your screen could become black not allowing you to compose the picture or autofocus. I am specifically wondering on the A7 but I am sure other mirrorless users deal with this too.

Is there some sort of setting to work around this?

Just turn exposure simulation off in manual mode. I'm pretty sure that's been an option for using live view since the 40D, so would be the same on a mirrorless.

Thanks Alan, searching using the term "exposure simulation" allowed me to find the answer fast! I just didn't know the correct terms to use.
