Should i remove the excitement?

i go back and forth on this one. the little sun flare in the middle of the rock seems distracting yet looks like a big exclamation point. not sure if i should remove it or not and if i did anyone have any suggestions as that's a pretty unique surface under it.

Its too distracting, eliminate it. A bit of select and content aware fill on Photoshop does it. Liking the pic without the flare.

I could never quite understand why some people like flare. To my eye in most cases it detracts from the image. I vote to get rid of it.

I vote to get rid of it as well. And maybe the contrail.

I don't like even the sun in this photo. Point your camera away from the sun!

I don't usually have much to say and therefore usually don't, but in this case, I have an idea....

I see two images here:

There's the obviously intended image and that's why the flare must die. lol.

Then there's the interesting flair. So maybe create another image (crop?) that focuses on that.

Ultimately, this is your image to do with as YOU please regardless of what pleases others. I even see a genre here (probably has already been done) of interesting images with intentional interesting flare(s).

I'd be interested in seeing your final results.

I actually like flare when used well. This one it is right smack on a subject though. But then again, I have no idea what I'm talking about, so that advice is worth exactly what you paid for it. ������

I don't actually mind the sun in this shot. But, as icopus pointed out, it depends on what you're going for. The exclamation point is gimmicky, and an interesting image for like those photo letters. But as a landscape, I would get rid of it. And while you're at it, I'd get rid of the plane, too.
