XSi probably... With the 40 and 7D you have similar build and ergonomics.

Cameras: 7D2, S100
Lenses: 17-55 f/2.8 IS USM, 18-135 STM, 24-70 f/4L IS USM, 50 f/1.4 USM,70-300L IS USM
Other Stuff: 430 EX II, Luma Labs Loop 3, CamRanger

Agreed. The XSi is a great camera, but the 40D is more robust. You might get a little more for the 40D but only $50 or so.

XSi gives you a travel camera...

I listed my 40D on ebay, cried for half an hour and cancelled the sell. XSi gets my vote.

40D has a nice solid body, I much prefer the feel of it to my 60D's and I use it quite a bit though recently I have been using a recently acquired 5Dc instead of the 40.

Thinking seriously about leaving the 40D with the 55-250 STM at work.

I recently sold my XSi with a 75-300mm (the really crappy one) for $175. Camera, charger, lens, and battery. Some people care about the box, but it doesn't really matter all that much.

XSi ? wife was doing good with it till we bought a Canon SX50HS and she has not used the XSi in Months,,but i grab it now & then IQ is very good and its light weight,,,,I like the idea of a "travel camera" as suggested,,and $175,for the kit is not going to get it??? like my G9,,selling for $100 on a good day,,NO WAY,,i will just let them set on the shelf and get OLD,,like me,,but maybe the grand-kids would enjoy them ?? Thanks for the suggestions

It appears the decision has been made. :)

Just sold my 40d and my 5dc and all my Canon lenses. I now have a Nikon D90 and D300 with some lenses. I like them. This adds no value to the thread, but wanted to weigh in.

Cheers

Sell both......or give them away to a good home.

If your wanting some incredible smaller built in camera's the panny LX100, Sony RX100mk3 and the Canon g7x (sony sensor iirc). Those small convenient camera's will probably have pretty darn good image quality with no fuss.

What you'll find is the 7d will feel much more modern in terms of navigating speeds. 40D was great in its time with 10mpx.You will very likely get spoiled with the newer 7d and not touch your other dslr's. In time you'd be looking at a secondary newer 2nd body like 70d with dual pixel AF for a video/still camera rig.
