i rented this lens last weekend for some regular car shooting. i loved it so much i just purchased one last night. its an amazing lens. cant wait to try it on portraits.

haha thanks....and seriously just do it. Another member here told me this lens is like having a Photography cheat code. It's true. So much fun to use, can point it at almost anything and make an interesting shot.

I normally agree, I'm still torn on this lens though. I don't like how much length the hood adds to this lens. It goes from inconspicuous to "I'm a professional" look instantly. But the front element needs protecting it is so big.

I've been using it without the hood or a filter though

For all my lenses I buy cheap.metal lens hoods on ebay (Leica style hoods). They are a lot shorter than normal hoods (obviosuly not as effective) but add protection without adding extra glass
