I always try to shot on a distance for minimal cropping. In this case I was about 4-4.5m away from the bird, in a hide, which is set up in the river. I like to work on closer distances, so that's the reason to shot FF+400mm.

As a hobbyist I have soul searched and can't justify it. Thankfully my 5D3 didn't stop taking great pictures when the 5D4 hit the streets. ;)

I suppose it's ironic that this shot was taken before the 5D4, but I assure you it still works. lol

A lot of people that post in this thread will upgrade for sure, but right now I can't justify the upgrade myself as enthusiast, my low-count shutter camera demonstrates to me that I still have camera for a lot of years ahead, Who knows!.
