What word would you use to describe somebody who pays 20% extra for a camera that they don't actually need now when they could save so much money by waiting a few months?

And who are you to judge how people spend their hard earned cash? Maybe they regard you as a moron for the house you live in or the car you drive or the fancy wine you drink. Get the picture.

...But as long as the supply of morons (or people who really need one now; or people buying with somebody else's money) doesn't dry up then they'll carry on making as much profit as possible - and who can blame them.

Wow. So those of us who bought a 7D Mark II, but don't really need one, are morons?

If you bought it in the UK - yes! But I presume you bought yours in the US where you don't suffer the imposition of the early-adopters tax that we do over here.

Would you still have bought one now if you knew, for certain, that you could get one for around $350 cheaper in the new year?

Let the early adopters do their thing.
They will take care of the company profit .
The more there are the sooner the price will drop in half a year.
I'll buy everything second hand and getting the most profit out of a body.

I have bought a second copy of the 7d c for 700 euro.
i have made 25000 pictures with it and sold it 1,5 year later for 650 euro.

After that i have bought a 1D mark iv second hand for 2250 euro.
The man i bought it from had paid 4800 euro for it and had taken 6500 pictures with it. He was allso an early adopter and paid the big price, and i'm making with low
costs the most benefit of it.

So early adopters keep on spending

I asking myself how many off you people would sell their 7d ii , if canon would announce in november next year a 7d iii ?

Correct. I bought mine in North America.

I know exactly where you're coming from on waiting to pay less for gear. I just don't think that someone paying full price is a moron since everyone has different desires, needs, and patience levels when it comes to waiting for a good deal.

I always buy gear when I can get it at the best possible price. Quite literally, every camera body and lens in my signature was purchased new when I could get it for an excellent price. And in some cases, I got some things for an amazing price. For example, I received a Canon 7D Mark II within the first week it was released and my final price was $1,266.

Cheers,
Bryan

There is also a different side to early adopters and pre-orders in local stores. They usually get much more for their used 7D compared to the late adopters. Now the worth of a used 7D has gown quickly to about 450 € (selling price). The early adopters/pre-orderers got very good exchange offers for their used 7D´s in local stores (between 600-750 €). I predict that the used 7D´s will sell soon for under 400 € as the piles of them get higher and higher in the stores as they have troubles selling them, and at the same time exchange offers will go down to only 300 € for a used 7D.
