Last regular and home game of the season. I had bought a couple of Pocket Wizard Plus X's and made a quick ground pod. I played around with a remote camera (7D) sitting on the floor next to me with a wider angle lens on it while I also shot with the 70-200 lens on my 7D II. Below, almost simultaneous shots with both cameras.

The ground pod with a wide angle is a good way to break up some of the monotony I find myself falling into when everything is shot with the same mid tele lens on the same camera, at the same height in the same general position. Also a good way to get a sense of place. Floor remotes are also cheap, 2 spare batteries and some gaff tape and this thing is ready to go where I point it.

I played with one last weekend, using a cable release because I didn't want to deal with coordinating my yungnuo triggers with everyone else's PWs, nor the fighting for space on the basket at the tournament. Turned out to be a lucky move on my part as the Refs got to giving the wire service guys a hard time about cameras on the basket.

Similar mix from the next day at the last Women's Game of the season:

Lots more noise as the remote is both stopped down and my slow kit lens (if it gets kicked like it did in this game I'm not heartbroken if it's gone, and the extra DOF helps the in focus rate). And in this case it's also crop vs full frame.

The men are pretty much done, I should get at least one more round of Women's Basketball though.

That it for basketball for me. On to baseball, softball, and, maybe, track (this Saturday).

Unexpected addition to the season. The women got into the WBI Tournament and I shot the Thursday night game. It had to be played downtown in the Civic Center instead of the home Coliseum because the basketball floor had already been taken up at the home court. The Civic Center lighting sucks!!
