I suggest you approach Canon. If you're attempting to replicate the Canon logo, they may well get very snippy unless you get permission first. Companies tend to be that way.

I'm not replicating their logo. I was just going to use their font type for something.

Try http://www.dafont.com/en (external link) it's a good font resource. Don't know if they have this specific one though, but well worth a browse.

Looking at a Canon brochure in Acrobat, the fonts used are in the DendaNew family. It seems this family may not be commercially available - see here (external link) for more information. This page (external link) from Canon South Africa indicates that Denda is a Canon corporate font, and I wonder if that is hinting at it not being commercially available.

In time, font may enter public domain. (Actually called typeface. Font refer to family of typeface. Font is like fountain from which similar letters flow).

Usually, such a face called a logotype and cannot be use without risk of copyright infringement.

A kind of typeface is used by IBM for its logotype. It is some form of Bodoni bold, and in public domain, but IBM in that typeface is still register as trademark.

What I'm am saying is you may have access to use a specific typeface, you won't have right to use Canon in same typeface and color. Also, what figure heavily into logotype is kerning of letters meaning how close they are to each other.

Example, SONY use common typeface. You type S O N Y and you less likely to cause problems in copyright infrinement on logo, but you may get trouble with use of name. Same probably true of Canon using unique typeface AND color.

Previous post saying name of typeface good to know. I always wonder who design typeface for Canon. very pretty and distinct. Type design a very fascinating art. I study typeset and type design long time ago. We use carpenter flat pencil to make letters by hand. Very annoying for first semester but soon you start to like it. Then computers come along and now nobody really appreciate type design.

You must be big man to cry in public. You must be bigger man to laugh at crying man.
