First image is 100% zoom, notice the small dot on the right side of the woman's face. Second image is 300% zoom and it shows the dot better. Does anyone have any idea what it is or what is causing it? I went thru the the next 100-200 image and do not see this dot anywhere else. Photo was taken with a 6d + tamron 2470.

Check to see if the spot shows up in the same location every photo.

It's very possible.. it's 100% blown out, just like the locket / picture on her necklace. If could just be a reflection from a piercing.. though it is strange, it doesn't look like there's any direct light to reflect.. Were the highlights raised quite a bit in post? It looks pretty underexposed, which leads me to think maybe you increased highlights or exposure in post which could easily lead to blown out reflections.

If it doesn't appear it any other photos, it's not the sensor.

It is either a really strange lens flare off of the pendent or you had one frame where a pixel got hot.

Interesting is that it is perfectly square. What about the crosshair on the guy to her left's back? Is that your cursor?

Photo is a jpeg straight out of the camera. It was an overcast day, the woman was in a dark alley between two buildings. I have a fair # of dark photos after this shot and do not see this dot anywhere else.

Looking at how much the image had to be enlarged, is this really a concern?? It may be some jpg artifacts.

take a 1 min exposure with the lens cap on. any hot pixels should show up with that.

but normally it's a pixel and if you look at the other highlighted objects within the picture they have the same kinda of frame around it.

And since it's a Canon camera.... if you find hot or dead pixels, leave the cap on and run the sensor self-cleaning cycle. That should cause the camera to detect and map around any hot/dead pixels. (Nearly all cameras have one or a few hot or dead pixels, BTW.)

^^^ What he said (or she).

You can also go through the settings to "manually clean sensor" and click go. Then, while the mirror is up you can just sit there for a minute or so (might as well keep the lens or cap on). Then, turn the camera off (this is what you're supposed to do).

When you turn it back on the stuck pixel should be gone.

I had a hot pixel (bright red dot) about a week after I bought my 6D. It looked like a laser pointer was pointed at my subject in each photo. After a five-minute panic I was given the above instructions and I haven't seen the problem again. That was about eight months ago.

In this day and age it is probably a piercing.
