So I really got to break in my new 1DX and Sigma 120-300 lens.

Things got a little damp yesterday...

Not knowing how well the Sigma 120-300 S lens is weather sealed, I didn't want to take any chances so I fashioned a rain cover out of a giant 24"x20" ziploc style bag from the dollar store and held it together with duck tape. ;)

Everything seems to have survived completely unscathed!

Looks good, the picture that is. :). I've been there with some plastic bags and rubber bands myself. I've since bought a cover but I know where you are coming from.

excellent photo. I really like the sharpness of the image. I looked at the 120-300 but have had issues with past sigma lenses with softness around the outside and auto-focus speeds. overall how did you find the focus hunting during the game in general with the 1Dx?

I have to say that to this point the lens substantially surpassed my expectations. It's not quite as fast as the 300 f2.8 IS (version 1) but it's faster than I expected it to be after reading a lot of threads about it here and on other forums. For me it's been quite sufficient. Although anyone coming from a Canon mark 2 prime would probably find it's performance lacking.

It's also sharper than my 70-200 f2.8 IS so I've been trying it out with everything. I'm also a pretty big guy so the 12.5 pounds (with the 1DX) makes it hand holdable so it's pretty much become my "go to lens" overnight.

I also paid a ridiculously low price for it ($1500) so with it's performance I'm even MORE happy with it. I thought for that price something might be wrong with it but thankfully that wasn't the case.

Oh, it's also convinced me that I need to upgrade my 70-200 to the version II. I guess that's next on the lens queue!
