WOW.. Grizz
What a fabulous collection.. and what great information!
Those knives are really beautiful and I really like the stone age tools.

Your first post is quite manly ;)

Is that a Big Horn Sheep Horn by any chance?
We have/had them here, and I used to see them quite often,
but the city put up a fence.. then airlifted them somewhere else...
due to development.

Thanks for sharing your collections..

Some great photos of your knifes Steve. A wonderful collections and some very good memories I would imagine. Thanks for sharing these. They are great. Must say though, that the first two photos do bring back memories of my aching back. Nice job here on your photos for the theme.:-)

Thanks for the comments Tim,Joanye and Terry. Terry I really liked your sausage press pic, oh how I need one of those. Just made 4 pounds of venison snack sticks and my "tools" for stuffing the links are so slow, but they still taste good. There is a rather famous smokehouse in my local small town of 250 people and they make 9000 pounds per day and will double that next year. The tools they use are on a larger scale than ours.
In my shot with the wood cutting tools I should have included a bottle of Aleve, which may be the most important part of my wood cutting these days!
Yes Joanye the horn is a Bighorn Sheep, but to be honest, it is a reproduction made of a resin material I imagine. This knife set was the NRA knife of the year in 2007 and they are numbered just as a painting would be. The knife is engraved with a bighorn sheep skull/horns on the blade. I think all sheep horns have to be checked, drilled and plugged by DNR these days to be legal which is a good idea.
And I agree about the stone age tools, they are so fascinating to me. When I find one I can't help but hold it for awhile, staring at it and wonder what our world was like when that tool was being used. And always the question comes to mind, how long ago was it used.

Grizz, You have an awesome collection. I do try to collect knives, without the wife knowing. She does not understand :(
I also like to collect flashlights.

Grizz, what a great collection of knives. Is that boning knife of your dads made by Forschner? I have a newer one as well as the butchers knife. My sister has my dads old Forschner butchers knife.

These are the tools I used when I made a model of the aircraft carrier I was stationed aboard from 1966-'67. This was the first time I built a model in over 40 years and I haven't built another one since. One of these days, I need to straighten up the mess.

This is the macgyvered connection from my air brush to air compressor. It isn't pretty...but it works.

This is the finished model of the ship I was stationed on. I was aboard during the tragic fire on Oct 26, 1966.

Yes navydoc my Dad's knife is indeed a Forschner just like the one you have, they look identical. Really like your ship model and admire your patience, something I have never had with tedious pieces.

Thanks. I wish I had more skill and talent for building this model but I forced myself to take my time with it. My biggest hurdle was that this model is pretty hard to find and expensive when one is found. For that reason alone, I didn't want to attempt anything too radical that might destroy it.

By the way, here's a shot showing my butcher's knife along side the boning knife. My dads butcher knife is thinner due to the many years of sharpening he did to it.

Hey Doc. Great work on the carrier. Lots of little tools to be used. Thanks for sharing. Also pretty cool that you have history with that Big Ole Boat.:-)
;-)a

Good one John_B. Mine doesn't have rollers like yours, I still use it though.
