So, here's a few shots from a shoot I recently had with this girl.

She's extremely insecure, didn't like to see her face in the photos so we kind of went with the theme of being alone, sad etc.

It was the second shoot I did with someone who modelled for me, so any helpful tips are appreciated!

My advise would be to arrange a shoot with someone who wants their photo taken.

Agreed.

From what I can tell, she's beautiful and has no reason to be insecure - certainly not about physical appearance.

I think you did a very good job, given the circumstances. you were able to create the mood you described. As for the model, she is a beauty, and the styling (whoever did it) is spot on...very nice. I would attempt to shoot with her again, when she is willing to try. This could be a major confidence builder for her...she really is a beauty...

She did want this photoshoot, just didn't want her face in frame. However, due to the positive reactions of everyone around her, and even on this forum, she's got a bit more confidence. Next shoot she won't be hiding her face anymore at least...

You might want to work on your black and white conversions. They are a bit muddy, I get you were going for moody but you could retain that and still get better tonal separation.

Agreed. Focus or processing looks soft.

I used the VSCO presets from lightroom for the black and white ones. The colour one is my own preset.

I'll look into some deeper post-processing techniques, thank you!

Please don't take my initial comment as negative. I made the comment because you said this was the second modeling shoot you had done. I suppose if I was looking to get into this type of photography, I would try to find a subject that was a bit more enthusiastic about having her photo taken. I am glad she is feeling a bit more confident, she ought to be. This said, I can't imagine a beauty such as herself having not had positive reactions prior to now!

Not bad, given the model's position. I'm surprised she even agreed to the shoot.

Just some encouragement to help her confidence is all she needs, nice pics with a beautiful model.
