I activated Task Manager to do a performance check and discovered that Creative Cloud was automatically connected to internet.

Although I haven't tried it...can I disconnect my computer from the router and still process and save images during non-payment periods?

Yes, it will still function. The desktop apps check for license every 30 days.

From that link, what most would be concerned about.

Annual members can use the apps for up to 99 days in offline mode. Month-to-month members can use the software for up to 30 days in offline mode

The ability to run offline for a period will be the weakness that allows it to be hacked not to need a license, i would guess. I can understand why they have done it though.

I don't think that security was ever a goal of CC. If I remember correctly, it was hacked within the first 24 hours.

I wonder though if anyone has sniffed CC to see what the heck it's sending back to Adobe. Is it as innocuous as just sending a license check or is Adobe doing some snooping as well, stuff like usage statistics or other things.

Not sure why, but call me JJ.

From a personal, non-professional, point of view, that wouldn't concern me...but I could understand it bothering the pro's out there.
It would be a good way to give their programmers a good direction to pursue for upgrades. ;)

Adobe probably wants to read your email or something, nothing to worry about
