FarmerTed1971 fondling the 5D4 More info | Since the M2 was not distributed in N America you can bet the M3 will be. The 2 was only a minor upgrade over the original. I don't think Canon will be releasing another minor upgrade because the competition's offerings are getting better everyday. I'm looking forward to the M3... but tossing down $800+ for tech not much better than my M will get no love from me. Canon needs to up the ante and knock it out of the park. I agree, I would also like to see a few more lenses added for the system. Aaron

Nov 26, 2014 08:00 | #8 Several lenses not released here? I know about the 11-22 that didn't come here, but the only others I'm aware of are the 18-55, 22, and 55-250. https://www.flickr.com/photos/127590681@N03/

Ultrawides, etc. Even some crazy wide apertures ones (40mm f0.85 for example) stuff is out there now. You rarely see it marketed for US buyers. But they're all over the place in some other countries.

Nov 26, 2014 09:09 | #10 Oh, I was only thinking of first-party lenses. Makes sense now. I know I've seen third-party lenses around for sale, though I'd certainly believe not all of them made it here. https://www.flickr.com/photos/127590681@N03/

I certainly have no interest in an $800 mirrorless that doesn't have all the features I'd expect from a good camera like the Fuji XT-1 (only $400 more, and way, way better). I love my M because when it was discontinued, it was sold with a lens for $250. For that, it's a good deal. For $600+ it's not. But for $250, the EOS-M and a single lens (for me the 22F2 pancake), made it an instant buy. I now use it a ton and enjoy it. It's not my go to for action or anything like portrait, but it's used all the time in my general walk around, around the house, kids, and I put it into serious landscaping since it performs great there (it's ideal for me for landscape, does everything any other modern SLR would do for that). Very best, Yes, the appeal of the M is really in the quality you get for its small size and low price after it was discontinued. I added the EF-M 18-55 to the 22mm pancake kit and I still only spent $400 for the entire kit (well, I actually only spent half that because I had some Amazon credits and gift cards). I never would have bought an M at the much higher initial prices.

MalVeauX "Looks rough and well used" More info | Nov 26, 2014 10:38 | #13 Scott M wrote in post #17294211 I pulled my EOS M out of my coat pocket last night at the home of some friends. My one friend immediately had quite a reaction to the camera, wanting to know all about it and where he could get one. He had no idea such a camera existed. I get similar reactions when I bring my `M out in restaurants, at work, just out with friends, etc. They've all seen my big bulky gripped SLR's and know what kinds of images you can make with such tools, but most people are far more comfortable with a smaller device, like their smart phone camera, or something the size of a P&S. The `M surprises most of these folk who are not deeply into photography, because they see the images and how sharp and clean they are, especially with the 22 f2, and that wonderful isolation & bokeh it has at F2, along with the ability to land shots in low light with high ISO and it still look much better than their smart phones can hope for. I shoot at ISO 3200 with the M in low light restaurants with enough shutter speed to avoid blur and the photos are great, I don't even have to clean up the noise much if at all. Minus the bulk of a big SLR and a huge F1.4 or F2 prime for that size camera. The pancake is what sold the EOS-M for me. I wouldn't bother with it with a larger lens, and don't.

Nov 26, 2014 21:12 | #14 Late, late, late. The M3 should have been out earlier to get holiday buyers. You can bet it will have dual pixel AF on it...but they need to fix the shot to shot recovery rate. Cameras: 7D2, S100
