Taken at Savannah NWR. The kestrel came directly towards me and pounced onto a grasshopper. Took it to a nearby perch and had a snack!

Started raining in the afternoon and I had to leave on Tues. Mon was good though, good looks at a perched Bald Eagle in the swampy grove near the end of the loop. Seen here before too. Pair of river otters, cottonmouth, numerous Harriers that never wanted to get close, including a few Gray Ghosts. Nice Flickr and website BTW! Hey thanks! And excellent work on your Flickr page as well! I must say I am envious of your eagle shots. I've yet to get that close to one at the refuge.

Nov 29, 2014 12:44 | #11 Outstanding show of skill Chris. Not an easy task with a head on rocket like a Kestrel. These birds have been at the top of my must photo list for a long time. I'd make a special trip down myself if I knew there were numbers to be found there. About how far away was this bird? Steve
