Taken at Savannah NWR. The kestrel came directly towards me and pounced onto a grasshopper. Took it to a nearby perch and had a snack!

Great series Chris! Glad you had some decent weather. I figured you would spot my little Kestrel buddy. It hunts the same area daily it seems.

Thx Dave,

Weather cooperated on Mon morning, but the light was awful. Started raining in the afternoon and I had to leave on Tues. Mon was good though, good looks at a perched Bald Eagle in the swampy grove near the end of the loop. Seen here before too. Pair of river otters, cottonmouth, numerous Harriers that never wanted to get close, including a few Gray Ghosts.

Nice Flickr and website BTW!

Wow Chris, excellent series, and good on you for maintaining focus! Very well done.

Hey thanks! And excellent work on your Flickr page as well! I must say I am envious of your eagle shots. I've yet to get that close to one at the refuge.

A very well done sequence, Chris. Had it been me, the perches would have been in focus and that's it.

Outstanding show of skill Chris. Not an easy task with a head on rocket like a Kestrel. These birds have been at the top of my must photo list for a long time. I'd make a special trip down myself if I knew there were numbers to be found there. About how far away was this bird?
