Taken just north of Wheatfield Indiana, yesterday. Not great light, nor were they close but a I'll take a rarity any day. After reporting the band colors, I found that they are both male, the left bird in the photo born in 2004 and the right born in 2011.
Pretty good day!

Wow....those Whooping Cranes are very rare. How many in existence ?

I have heard that they look similar to a Sandhill Crane and looking at the pix of those Whoopers, I can see some similarities.
