We're okay with collected and logical...as long as you stay away from the touchy-feely like Chet. :p

I don't get into PDA, much to the chagrin of my wife. :D

I am sure somebody will ruffle Teamspeed 1.1 enough to bring out Teamspeed 1.0. My kids know how to do that just about every single night.

That is true, BUT that is where the mods are/should be stepping in to correct the bad behavior. The BAT team (and other members that now are very acclimated and know their way around) can run interference for Pekka regarding site use and layout, the mods can regulate behavior, and Pekka can work on his baby behind the scenes. :)

I understand what you are saying, Cary. And I agree. But what I feel and want to say to those wankers is everything Harm said in his comments, and that makes it difficult. Personally I think you are doing a great job. You have much more restraint that I. Chet too. And OhLook. At the moment all I can do is shut up and avoid the wanker threads because once I'm in there, my blood begins to boil. And not just because I was on the beta team and AMASS is dear to me too, but because of Pekka. He really did a terrific job and AMASS is so fresh and elegant and with brilliant functionality and amazing attention for detail and those people are tearing him and it down. I'm telling you, my heart bleeds for him.

What I want to know is why the mods don't step in. I understand that they laid low for a bit, but it's been 4 days now and some of these people are really bad. I strongly feel that Pekka needs protection and we, beta team, are trying to do so, but we have no power and if we go too far we are slapped instead (which I understand, it's not a criticism). All we can do is be a bit of a buffer and respond to them the best way we can, try to get them to behave, see reason. But it's difficult and some just keep going and the disrespectful way in which they are doing it just makes my skin curl. Moderators are probably under orders from Pekka to keep a low profile for a bit, but enough is enough and this venom needs to stop.

Cary, I'm not sure a standardised reply like that will work. It might infuriate them even more because now they will feel they're not taken seriously! Maybe it is better if we simply stop replying to them altogether. Just ignore them and focus on people who express their concerns in a well mannered way, who ask questions in a normal tone etc. The wankers have used up enough time and energy already. And at least by not replying to them they don't get new fuel to spit fire over in yet another nasty reply.

well, let the 1-2 of us say what you feel - that way you'll stay as good as your title, and be squeaky clean.

The mods don't step in, because battle of the wits have not become personal attacks, so far, just plain stating the obvious style things. once anything becomes sour, thread is closed. until then, people are rightly able to put their opinion on the internet - just expect some responses, good or bad.

I have no issue telling people where to go :D mods can step in and ban them or tell me to calm down a little...

I am not a mod and wasn't part of the BAT team. But I feel the same way and after spending enough time in those threads I tend to get a bit hostile. I can not tolerate rude, disrespectful people when there no just cause. I've been coming here daily for 10 years, kinda like the place and the environment.

You do not need to do better. You're doing just fine as it is. I, like you, and the many others here, am frustrated with people.

Same topic - fonts / UI / something, different thread.

You just need to vent it, somehow.
