I do not know. What address you put into embed tool? The preview always shows what there is in the thumb. If there is a mistake, you do not have to submit it. I welcome all reports of oddities, but I need to be able to reproduce them in order to solve them.

When I put the URL
https://gp1.wac.edgecastcdn.net …78995b83c29f27c90fe/5.jpg (external link)

To embed tool, I get only image tags (your sunset image), as it is not a gallery page there is no other info to retrieve.

When I paste there URL http://500px.com/photo/806614/ or https://500px.com …nd-the-sky-by-bas-meelker (external link) there, I get

(posted only as educational example, not my photo)

Can we change the header fonts please, to something a little bit more readable, especially in the short form version.

Thanks

I'm out of my comfort zone for sure, but I do think some of the behaviors are my main issue, nevermind the kiddish looks. I really dont know what is a legit link or not without mouseover effects. The fragmented behavior of the page makes it hard for me to get back into my comfort zone.

Ooh, but you need to get out of your comfort zone!! Don't be afraid. And before long the new POTN will be your comfort zone. :p Change is always difficult. We are creatures of habit. But please give this a chance.
As to the mouse overs or lack thereof, they are there when needed and absent if the tool is self explanatory. Like UPLOAD IMAGES has no mouse over because it's pretty self explanatory what it does, wouldn't you say? :)

I've seen forums destroyed on minor changes. Time will tell here. It's a very risky toss of the dice IMO.

Care to name a few, I am always interested in internet history?

I think we are pretty safe here, but it is good to know what you know, so that we can try not to repeat those mistakes. Personally, with all my internet experience, what has killed forums were the attitudes of members and lack of moderation. When left unchecked, a forum goes to hell very quickly. CDS won't allow that to happen here. :)

Only some items have mouseover effects, some dont (that's the biggest problem). That makes it very difficult to use. Like, smilies, and a bunch of stuff dont have mouseover effects, while others like upload images, post number, hyperlinks, ect DO have mouseover effects.

Hovering on likes and smileys does yield more information. Where do you want a hover feature that doesn't exist now? I don't miss it where it's missing. Even "Preview & Save Draft" is hoverable although its meaning is obvious.

OMG...
This is God-awful.
Can't believe this is the much lauded, long talked about change and that it's taken six years for this.
I was expecting something of an improvement but give me back the old format any day.

well, that's the thing, the upload images DOES have a mouseover effect, but doesnt need it. Of course I prefer to have it.

I'm thinking the smilies can use it. The like should have a mouse underline, like hyperlink. Quite a few things have mouseover/effects, and quite few dont. it's just odd for me to see much fragmentation. I know it may seem trivial, but it does help with user experience.

the replying to post vs quoting.... I'll have to get used to that. A bit confusing for sure, seems like a more complex approach to a simple solution.

Everyone has an opinion, but it appears you are in the minority at this point. Either you will learn the strengths and new ways to do things, or you will move onto other forums like FM or DPreview or Dgrin or Photo.Net, none of which have anything quite a powerful as the features here.

You have made your point in 2 threads now, no need to keep bashing it. Either move on, or try to learn the new forum. We can help if you have specific questions on how to do something.

no doubt that this is more powerful than FM, the only other photog forum I participate in, however, FM was more powerful in the past, but the reason why I didnt frequent was because with all it's features, it was just more clunky to use.

I understand change is a bxxxh, but a more similar interface would have made the blow a lot softer. This change is pretty damn substantial, the biggest I've ever experienced. it will take time to adjust.
