Looks like Pekka would like us to post questions about AMASS in the link provided.

Is it possible to get the members post count to display like it used to? It helps to spot spammers and newbies who might be struggling.

Post count is shown in MORE/REPORT/SHARE, to the left of a post.

Spam should diminish noticeably now that a system to keep bots from registering is in place.

Is there a setting to show if a member is on-line like in the old forum when responding to a post? I did read though the tutorials but if I missed it please excuse me.

The list of who's online is near the bottom of the main page. No green light that goes on and off, though.

Be aware that it won't show everyone. In the Account Settings section of your FYEO page, a user may elect to HIDE and will not be shown on that list.

Also if you click on the MORE/REPORT/SHARE link for a member, if the member has elected to HIDE, their last Last Activity time/date will be hidden.

Correct. Not a new feature. At the vBulletin POTN, users could also opt to keep their names off the list.

Did you choose to follow this thread? This version doesn't automatically follow a thread after you reply, you either follow in the popup that shows after replying, or go to the top of the thread and follow from there. That will add the thread to your followed list for new and followed.

Edit: looks like you got it!

This point is interesting. I've only seen that pop-up once. For all other threads I had to return to the top and select follow. Maybe that's a bug to investigate.

The automatic pop-up only shows if you "Reply to post" or "Quote" a post, it will not show up if you "Reply to thread".

Okay usually I just lurk and follow up on fs threads. And enjoy the usual potn content.

But holy snap, this layout sucks. I can't find anything. Ugh. Just typing this leaves a bad taste. I thought at first that the site got hacked. Nope. It just went from just right stock layout to this cursive fml this is so junk style.

Seriously. This is like the worst theme potn could choose. Knowing that the way they keep this running consists of the people on here, you would have thought they would have asked in regards to our preferences?

Ugh. Sorry. End rant.

I ran into another issue. I use a laptop with touchscreen, and 3 times already, hit the post number rather than like text as intended. They're too close and could use side to side separation.

Whoa. I'm not one of the people saying, "I'm taking my ball and going home." Generally this format is OK. I'm just nitpicking two details.

As far as post count, it helps us when helping others. We can say welcome to the real noobs and it gives us an idea of how in detail we need answer a question. For those who are using it for negativity, they only have to click once to get the info. And let's face it those using it for negative reasons will go that extra click more times than the people who would use it for positive reasons. Therefore it punishes the wrong people by making it harder to see.

It's not a fundamental change I am asking for, and should be an easy change. Pekka can take it or leave it, but I am going to state my reasoning and leave it at that.

DTBaan wrote in post #17302840 (external link)
no, AMASS is pure genius. I am seeing 'if it isn't broken, don't fix it'

it was never broken and was a great forum. however, the forum was outdated and Pekka has been working on it for years to keep up with the modern and future needs of the forum. Like the 'like' feature. Sure it could be added, (I think) but there were lots of things Pekka wanted that regular forums did not offer so he started the whole thing from scratch and made it 100% his own.

As for post counts, Pekka believed it is not necessary to know someone's post counts and wants everyone to be treated the same. low post counts to high post counts it does not matter. He stated that there are several members who joined the early age of potn and till this day still have a low post count. He wanted to honor the old members for their support and not have someone new or someone with higher post count treat them as a newbie just because they have lower post counts. I also was curious about that but after a bit of time I really did not care for post counts anymore. I can say that my post counts are in the high's (11k) compared to the majority but that doesn't matter. It just means Ive been talking nonsense on here :P It's nice to have but if you want to check up on someone you can do so by clicking on their profile.

I will put this in caps and give it some attention, not to offend you or anyone but I would like everyone to see it.

PLEASE GIVE THE NEW FORUM A CHANCE AND SPEND SOME TIME ON IT INSTEAD OF DISLIKING IT BEFORE EVEN GIVING IT A TRY !!

Like Facebook. when timeline came in play, no one liked it and hated it. After giving it some time everyone became accustomed to it. For me, I can't even remember how the old FB was.

sorry about that. I should have made a new post with the below comment. I was lazy to do so and thought I'd just use the same reply and make a short note that it was not as a target to you. again, sorry :/

the first sentence was a reply to you and I poorly worded out about the broken part. what I really was trying to say that I am hearing lots of people complain about the new forum and that they wished it was never changed.

Okay, you are entitled to your opinion, you don't like it. However I for one don't appreciate your terminology: "layout sucks", "junk style", "worst theme potn could choose" among others I find offensive and an affront to Pekka who spent many hours of his own
time(and money) to make this forum have the best layout, style, and theme for all members including you.

You can't find anything? Did you try reading the threads located in the Forum Talk section specifically written to teach you how to use this beautiful new software tool? If not, give them a try.

Using this forum layout on tablet is annoyimg this morning not sure if I'm gonna get used to it in all honesty whilst I understand ur update etc I didn't have any issue with the old format at all ! The other thing is why turn it into a multi camera make forum when it was based on canon users before or people moving over to canon? There are already way to many multi camera forums out there ... hence why this one stuck with me! ?

members like myself moved onto another brand but still like the forum and continue using it. some also use multiple brands. having a section for other brands are greatly appreciated.
