I'm really kinda surprised by the lack of images posted in this thread. I realize it's a new thread and people are still adjusting to the new forum... but the other a7 threads in the "old" forum were always very busy.

Regardless, I'll be posting my first pics here next week, I'm anxiously awaiting delivery :)

Here are a couple of new shots I took today of the model ship I built of the USS Oriskany. I was stationed on her from 1966-'67.

a7r + FE 35mm F2.8 ZA + Canon 430EXII flash bounced.

I'm still posting regular in the other (old) thread. When new potn went live too many new sony threads were started for the sake of it IMO. The fact we can add exif when adding shots to our galleries allows filters to be applied by people so there is no need for a separate a7r , a7s thread etc. now it's confusing for people where to actually post. I'm going to stick with the originals as they worked fine previously,

Again all just my humble opinion

I agree that it's gotten too confusing with so many threads for the a7 series of camera. The only reason I'm posting mine here is that I'm using native lenses. Perhaps the other thread should be for non Sony lenses and renamed appropriately.

I've asked the mods to merge these two threads let's see if they do it.

Which remote? Also, doesn't the a7R have wifi enabled shooting? I guess I should've researched it a bit more first (didn't because it's not a big deal), but I figured it's WiFi could be used for remote control via my phone like my 6D could...?

originally the thread by Shadowblade was meant to showcase images from the a7 series while the one by andrikos was more of a discussion. along the way as we saw, Shadowblade's thread name was changed because some lovely folks complained about the thread being in the canon lens section.

it really is hard to decide where what goes now. we all wanted a sony/other brand section and now that we have them, we don't know what to do with it lol. I would like the brands to be under it's category, it just makes sense and easier. From what I see and understand though, lens should go in the lens archive section where all and every lens are and there is also a camera image sample for bodies as well. What we have here (sony forum) is just for discussions. which means, this should be in the camera photo sample.

in the past, it made sense to have a lens sample. with AMASS, like Eddie mentioned, we can now look through the gear listings. the problem with that is that not everyone would bother with metadata and adding their image to their album. I myself would just add the ones I like while the other stays out of my POTN gallery. One's I see that will be a bit of problem are 3rd party lenses. I don't think we need a sigma 35 art in Nikon, canon, etc. etc. options in that case is we post the images under the sony or whatever brand camera instead of lens. I don't know.. I get headache thinking bout this.. lol

Yeah you need these gallery s because so far i am seeing 1 in maybe 10 images being tagged to the gear being used. People just post and go. The gear is an added step many are not taking.

I think Ill post to the a7r images thread if I use a native lens, I'll post to a7 series (with canon lenses) thread if I use canon lenses and will also use that thread for any discussion as it's the one that the most discussion happens in. I feel we are a bit diluted now though. The original thread was my busiest subscribed thread, not any more

I wish we could just merge this thread with the other original one. Would drive more traffic.
