I don't see why we don't just rename this thread as "a7R owners unite! Discuss and post photos!" like all the other body focused threads in the Canon section.

I don't think he can edit the title once a reply has been posted.

I really hate FedEx... my shipping status says "On time" and scheduled for delivery to my house "by 8:00pm", it's now 8:50, no sign of my a7R vmad

I'm going to be incredibly frustrated if it doesn't come tonight, I won't be home tomorrow to sign for it and I work all day on Saturday so I can't go pick it up, plus they're not open on Sunday... so friggin irritated.

Also, I had no intention of picking up the Zeiss 35mm, but the more images I see from and of it (I love the size) the more I want it... keep those pics coming! :)

Hopefully, FedEx is just running behind because of the Holiday crunch and you'll still get it sometime tonight. I've had a similar situation with UPS where the truck didn't show until almost 9:30pm.

If you're referring to the FE 35mm F2.8 ZA lens, it's become my most used all around lens.

No such luck :(

They waited until around 9:45 to change the estimated delivery date to tomorrow... when I'll be at work all day -? I put in a request for them to hold it at their shipping center (almost 40 mins from my house)... hopefully I can pick it up in the morning, or at least on Saturday afternoon.

And yea, that's what I meant. I've never been a huge fan of 35mm's, but the size and rendering of that one make it compelling.

The light was changing fast but I thought I'd try shooting this Costas hummingbird with my a7r + 100-400L instead of my 5D3. This was shot handheld, manual focused at 1/80th. you can see the shots taken with the 5D3 at my Flickr page. I may add a shot or two more here when I've done some more processing.

I gotta say, I'm already falling in love with the a7R, I've only played with it for less than an hour and haven't even seen the shots yet lol. I can't believe how light it is! I really expected it to be heftier than my X-E1, but it's if anything lighter! :-P

The shutter is definitely louder and more drawn out then I like... the cat is not a fan... Lol. Will post pics once I take a look at them.

EDIT: Got a chance to check out the files in LR5

Pretty decent image quality, I'd say at the very least on par with my X-E1, but focusing was far easier with the a7R and that's reason enough to be happy. What settings do you guys use to get the best out of this camera in low light/high ISO? I used the camera preset for "light" for these RAW conversions with some other exposure tweaking. I didn't do any NR, just sharpening around 50 and masked to around 65. Definitely not as clean as shots from my 6D, but better than I feared, but then these are only at ISO1600 and below... the ISO12800 shots I took were pretty soft, any recommendations on how to keep detail at those higher ISO's?

Looking good Lucas. I've not shot much high ISO with the sony yet so not best placed to offer advice on that

Reasonable explanation.

You should post more pictures of him. Haven't seen the little furball in a while in the cat pictures thread.
