Yeah, I honestly don't understand those people.

I'm one of those guys who needs more than 12MP. :p A few months ago I ordered a couple of large prints (60cm by 40cm). I cropped the pictures a bit (still 17-17,5MP left after cropping an 18MP RAW file) and sharpened them up before getting them printed. When I received them, sharpness was just about right for me. A few MP less and I wouldn't have been satisfied with the sharpness. But I also like to look at large prints from a relatively short distance. :-)

Beautiful pictures of a pretty woman. I especially like the second picture. I clicked on the links in your signature and what's even more amazing than the pictures is the fact that she managed to lose about 40% of her body weight. Respect!

Printing is one thing I haven't done with any of my A7S pictures yet, I will give it a try but don't plan on doing it much. Unless I get "discovered" and the world suddenly wants to buy prints from me, LOL!

Considering I have an awesome 20x30 print from my 8mp 20D hanging in my living room which receives numerous compliments, I think 12mp is plenty ;)

12MP is more than enough for most.

If you don't crop (and if you do it does not matter for say a 10% crop/slight straighten) you can print at 240dpi ish for an A3 print, which is more than plenty for general use.
An A4 comes out over the magic 300dpi everyone seeks (glossy magazine etc.).

One from this morning while walking the dog.

It all depends on the viewing distance and one's sharpness preferences in my opinion. Years ago I printed a picture that was taken with my Canon PowerShot A40 (only 2MP) on an A4 paper and while it looks fine from a certain distance, it looks really soft when coming closer to it. But, to each his own of course. ;-)a

I hang my images on the walls in my house, usually above furniture... nobody stands 2 feet from them to view, and even of they did they would look fine imo ;)

Like you said though, different strokes for different folks.

How's the shadow recovery on the "s"? I'm shooting with the "r" right now and it's super easy to pull back shadows from a 2 stop underexposed shot.. It just sucks with high ISO's. I figure if the "s" is anything like the "r" in shadow recovery PLUS clean high ISO images, it's probably a perfect low light walk around camera.

From all that I've seen it's just as good, only better past ISO400.

I have a buyer lined up for my a7R this Sunday, so as long as he doesn't back out I'll be posting in this thread by next week :)

According to DXOMark (external link), the A7S has about a stop less dynamic range than the A7R (at base ISO). So I'm not sure if shadow recovery performance will be the same.

This is pulling up shadows a lot. I did add grain but the latitude seems pretty amazing imho. The sensor should be alright for it...
