OoDee Senior Member More info | Oct 27, 2015 17:43 | #244 I meant to shoot with Canon lenses and the A7rii, but it turned out that my new Metabones' old firmware was poor in AF performance. So I shot with the 55. Image hosted by forum (756214) © OoDee [SHARE LINK] THIS IS A LOW QUALITY PREVIEW. Please log in to see the good quality stuff.

So I shot with the 55. Nice shot. Manual focus with focus peaking would have been very doable with this shot! focalpointsphoto.com

If I had to guess, I'd say its because DSLR lenses don't perform well with contrast detect AF, and eye focus needs the hybrid AF system to work properly. When using adapted lenses, the camera is able to use PDAF only, or contrast detect only. Not able to use hybrid. focalpointsphoto.com

Oh sorry I thought you meant adapted lenses. Eye-AF works on the FE55. It works on any native FE lens. focalpointsphoto.com

I need to look into that. Last time I checked the menu, my camera claimed that eye af was not available for neither the 55 nor 28/f2.
