I just can't get myself to enjoy this lens. Technically, the quality of images it renders are perfect, for sure. But I find them boring. SO I wonder of the FE 50mm would be any different. For now I'm only keeping the 55 for pure size benefits (though notice myself reaching for the Sigma 50/1.4 DG far more often).

Look at the sample thread for the Canon 50mm 1.8 images, the sony has identical design if you look at a cutaway and from the twst samples i've seen its pretty much the same performer. Only difference is the Sony will have an aspherical element, that being said I have found 55-58mm lenses to have much nicer bokeh than 50mm. That tiny bump in background compression works out well.

Nice shot
How high were you and how high is Mount Baker?

Forgive my lack of geography however I have a very vague memory that I might have seen a bit of this mountain from afar maybe from the Seattle Space Needle, or is that impossible?

I was wondering if there would be any difference had you used your A7R2?

Jamie

I dont think theres much of a difference using the a7r vs r2 with the 55mm. I think i had the zeiss 100-300 on the r2 because the r2 does much better stabilizing the mf lens and preventing mirror shake

And yes you can see Baker from the Space Needle on a clear day. Its about 90 miles to the north. My vantage point was at about 5100 feet. My WTA trip report: http://www.wta.org …ort.2016-05-06.5226970172 (external link)
