Went to a cosplay/anime event here in Tokyo. I have a geeky side! I love these events since it's a great way to practice shooting many different people and try new & portable light setups.

All are shot with the a7 and the FE24-70, usually at f/5.6 or f/8.

ABR800 Ringflash, Vagabond Mini, and Yongnuo RF608 triggers.

The top picture is a bare ABR800 with the standard reflector.

The bottom picture is with the 30" Moon Unit, silver side, with no diffuser, directly at the person (like a ringlight).

Skin retouching with Dodging and Burning.

I had planned on taking more shots while the car was being detailed but they parked it so that half of it was in the shade...

Thanks, I'm really enjoying driving it and except for a brief cold spell over the Holidays, Southern California weather is back to normal. It got up to 85° today. :-D

I took advantage of a rare foggy morning today to do some experimenting with moody black and white images.

While I was at the park this morning, I also took a shot of my car but decided to keep it in color.

Great fog shots Gene! And I hope you'll post my favorite of them as well (commented on it on your Flickr stream). :)

The car shot is yet another example of why I really like the way this lens renders. It reminds me a lot of the Zeiss Distagon T* 1.4/35mm (ZE or ZF.2). There is just a nice smoothness to it. And the colors look great as well. If I can sell a few items I plan to order this along with the 70-200mm.

Thanks David, I appreciate your comments. I will attach the image you commented on here as well. I really need to practice seeing in black and white as I think that helps with the composition of color shots to come. I may switch to shooting black and white jpg's right out of the camera occasionally for this purpose.

I'm also glad you liked the image of my car. It has been pretty heavily processed. Regardless, I think you'll enjoy owning this lens.

Thanks baan. Here's one more of my car from a wider perspective. I actually like this dark version and looks great (to me) when viewed on a dark background large.

Looks great indeed! I like the wider view even better as the setting is so interesting.

I like this one better too. with the leaves and light reflection from the concrete. Wider would be even better for me lol. Would like to see more of the trees as well. lower part looks about right for my taste :)

If I had shot any wider, then it would have just been a photo of the park with a car in the way. :p

I thought this version was a good balance of highlighting the car and still showing its place within the surroundings.
