The forum looks great and I bet it took a massive amount of work to get done! Any chance of a quick reply? For bonus points a multiquote that can populate the quick reply box, but that's not really necessary.

Also curious if subscription control can be in the thread creation/reply page - instant reply by email, when you check the forum, etc.

Not sure on Email but just above and to the right of the first post it says "follow this thread", click on that or when you post a reply AMASS will ask you if you want to follow, say yes. Each time you check the forum, a purple banner will list the number of posts and number of replies to each thread you choose to follow. Can't miss it, also you automatically follow each thread you start.
I hope that's part of what you were asking.

I have not seen this option on any of my replies. Can you explain where this question comes up?

EDIT: hmm....it popped up for the first time when I replied to THIS thread. It definitely hasn't happened everytime though.

It seems you can't choose email / forum notifications for new replies on the thread. I looked for a user control panel to see if it was in there, but I can't find a control panel where I'd set up my name, subscription types, etc. I'm sure it's somewhere but I don't know where.

Quick reply was the other topic - it seems missing. It's also strange that the existing replies dim when you're writing a reply - you're replying to something, why not make it easily visible?

It should pop up the first time you post a reply by using the Quote or mq'd buttons, I beieve the follow thread pop up does not come up when you use the "reply" button to any thread, after that, the banner on top will show any replies to the threads you follow or start. When you start a thread, you automatically follow that thread.
If it does not come up, you can always click on the "follow this thread" line just above and to the right of the first post. That will follow that thread and show you any replies.

Well, not sure on the email answer, I never used it in the old forum but if it is not there now and if Pekka wants it there, it will happen. There are some good threads in this section where this question may already be addressed.
I'm not sure what you mean by quick reply but the simple reply choice is there. As far as the dimming question, I guess it's a matter of individual likes, it is dimmed but still plenty readable to me.

I'm just bumping this - quick reply is a really useful tool that most forums have, I would appreciate if it was on the development schedule.

Hit the QUOTE button in the post you're replying to instead of the REPLY button. The quoted post will be visible in your typing window. Or hit the REPLY button and then hit Quote in the toolbox, for the same effect.

The Quote button in the toolbox gives you additional options. To keep the Quote panel active while replying, move it any amount. Otherwise it goes away when you select something in it.

I'll agree on the quick reply. From a workflow perspective,

Read post, Click in the box, Type note. Tab>SpaceBar

And you are done. Moving back to the mouse is the bottleneck. A Ctrl+Enter = submit (like outlook email window) would get us half way there.

Agree. I use a touchpad, which is easier than a mouse. Even so, I prefer keyboard commands in general. On Old POTN, you tabbed to Preview and Submit for standard reply or to Submit for Quick Reply.

People are asking that the Submit button be moved to the right side. I think this preference is a holdover from the experience of reading a physical page, where the last thing you do is look at the lower right corner because the text ends there. But that's a visual operation. You read the last line with your eyes; next, you turn the page with your hand. There's no reason for these habits to carry over into computer use. When typing a post, you may or may not finish with your gaze on its lower right corner. You may be checking the subject line, for instance (if you're the OP), or something early in the post. Your cursor, too, may not be in the corner of the post. Anyway, looking at your text uses different body and brain parts than operating the Submit button.

If the button is to be moved, I'd like to see it horizontally centered. When I type a post, I don't necessarily end at the right edge. The average is in the middle.

You can click reply once and the editor opens in about 1 second. That is not quick?

The common Quick reply (when no icon is clicked) is equivalent to starting a "post to thread" command. That can be set to trigger on some keyboard command of course.

I could of course make code that lets you hit some keyboard command to open reply on current post, but determining what is the current post is the culprit (pixel level position detection is easy, but where there are few low height posts on screen the dilemma is which one to pick for the reply). I need to know exactly what the code should do, the actual coding is the easy part.

I guess I see what you mean by quick reply, using keyboard commands instead of clicking with a mouse, so I have to agree...

I guess you are more keyboard friendly than I am along with others but clicking reply can't take that much longer than a command selection but that's just me. Wished I could have helped more!
