Here is one of the shots with 35mm f1.4 @f2 when I got the camera. It seems as good if not better than 35L. Now don't go comparing this to 36 MP sony sensor.

I will post 100% crops later or link to the original. i can count the eye lashes. I don't think I care for any more detail than that for my non-pro camera.:)

Here is 56mm f1.2 @f1.2 and it is as sharp as 85L @f1.2. Now 85L is well regarded in canon circles and fuji 56mm f1.2 is doing same for less than half the price.

IMAGE: http://www.bobbyzphotography.com/img/s12/v182/p992395097-5.jpg

Now Sony with 55mm f1.8 is going to be really good but to say Fuji is not sharp is totally wrong IMHO.

The two shots look quite nice, but again it's hard to make any judgement based on websized shots. As for the 56 1.2 vs the 85 1.2; it makes much more sense to compare the 56 1.2 to the 85 1.8 as they're much more similar lenses; Fuji doesn't have anything to match the 85 1.2.

Bodies: X-T1, E-M1ii, G9 Lenses: µ.Z 7-14 2.8, µ.Z 12-40 2.8, µ.Z 25 1.2, X 18-55 2.8-4, µ.Z 40-150 2.8, µ.Z 45 1.2, µ.Z 60 2.8, µ.Z 75 1.8, PL 200 2.8

Not really... optically similar and both are f1.2 regardless of their intended format. True that the DOF difference is closer to an 85/1.8 on FF, but the fact that it's razor sharp at f1.2 and has great color and contrast is nothing to shake a stick at.

Also, I've yet to have a client ask me for a print any larger than 11x14 for which the shots from my X-E1 are more than sharp enough. I also have a 20x30 hanging in my living room that was taken with my old 20D and Tamron 28-270mm and it looks great, I sincerely doubt that shot is any sharper than the shots from my Fuji.

At this aperture range though DoF is the only real benefit of increase aperture. Once you go beyond f/1.4 current digital sensor technology doesn't really benefit at all from the extra light and so they have to artificially boost the ISO the give the exposure you'd expect from an f/1.2 (or faster) lens. There's a DxO article about this that I'll link if I can find it. That combine with the SNR difference between APS-C and FF and the 56 1.2 is directly comparable to the 85 1.8.

That's fine and I can believe that, but there's a difference between saying "Generally shots from my Fuji are/were as sharp or sharper than those from my 6D." which, at least to me, is not supported by what's on your Flickr page (which are all very nice btw) and that both are good enough to shoot 11x14.

Was at a park with kids. 23mm f1.4 @f1.4 imported RAW in LR using Adobe profile. No other change besides sharpen with values from other site being liked before.

I did 40, 1, 100, 10 like before. My 35L would have looks similar to my eye at f1.4 but with higher res as 24MP camera. Could Fuji be better, sure, but I like the look and bokeh.

Here is the 100% crop of the eye area where I tried to focus. I was using face detect for these shots.

I've seen the article, but again, the point is that Fuji makes excellent lenses at excellent prices when you consider the optical quality.

And fair enough, to my eyes and for my needs they look just as good, I'm not a pixel-peeper ;)

Thank you in regards to my Flickr :) I need to go through and delete a lot of those... been a long time since I've done a "cleaning" lol

I love my X-T1 and I'm fully committed to Fuji's system. The face detection feature is amazing, I'm currently taking advantage of the 1.5 crop sensor, and instead of picking up the 56 f/1.2 (though I would love that aperture) I'm using my Helios 58 f/2 and I'm loving it. One thing I enjoy, and this may be personal but I don't feel like I'm caught up into marketing, I'm perfectly fine using vintage lenses that optically may not be as great or fast but still produce great images. No need to focus on L lenses or any of that.

Currently my setup is

Fuji XF 18mm f/2 (Street Photography)
Fuji XF 18-55 f/2.8-4 (Events & Portraits)
Helios 44-2 f/2 (Swirly Bokeh Portraits)
SMC 135 f/3.5 (Distant Portraits)

I just need to grab a 90mm and I'll be set.

I added the fuji system to my stable starting with the X-E1 through the X-E2 and now the X-T1. I have also dabbled with the 100S. My quick observations are that I do not get equivalent results to my 5D3 with the zooms. In particular, I cannot coax decent results out of the 55-200, and I can only produce satisfactory results from the 18-55. I can get good enough results with the primes that I will leave the canon gear at home at times. In particular, I cannot coax decent technical results out of the 55-200, and I can only produce satisfactory results from the 18-55. In many respects, I do not care if it is me or the camera - the primes give me good results and unsurprisingly I spend my time with them. In my case, I am horrible at getting pleasing images with the 14mm, but the actual quality of the images is fantastic. The 56 has quickly become my favorite lens. I ahve a love hate relationship with the 100s - I do not have enough confidence in my ability with that lens.

Are some of those third party batteries? If so how do you compare to the original ones?

I use Wasabi Power batteries in my X-E1 (and my EOS M, sold 6D, T2i and now my a7R) and they work as well as OEM.

When Fuji releases their 120-400 I'll consider the XT-1.

not good enough for my liking, however it is 1600, so that can be forgiven. Pretty sure the canon (5D2/3 6D) does much better.
